Wunmi Fowora

Wunmi is a Nigerian-American actress, producer, and activist.
As an Eastern Principal Delegate of the Actors Equity Association, Wunmi recently spearheaded a resolution to advance equity for performers of color. It was passed at the Actor’s Equity National Convention with over 200 signatures. She founded BHMU to collaborate with the union to do the work necessary to make safer working conditions for Black performers and beyond.
Wunmi has hosted in world-renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center. She was the lead in the national tour of Freedom Train & has produced web series such as “Addie & Addy,” “Living With Strangers,” and "The Black Banshee". Wunmi’s acting work has been acclaimed by critics at Tribeca Film Festival, Picture Farm Film Festival, Auckland Film Festival (New Zealand) and more.
She earned her bachelor's in Drama from NYU Tisch.

Destinee Steele
Expert stylist, Activist
BHMU Founding Member, Vetting Team Coordinator
Destinee Steele is a touring wig and makeup supervisor and the founder of ready-to-wear wig company The Beauty Menagerie.
She brands herself as a wig technician, cosmetologist, and makeup artist who's dedicated her career to educating stylists on black hair and makeup.
Destinee has worked in theatre, film, and opera. Most recently, she toured nationally with The Sound of Music (2018-19) and Waitress (2019-20).
She has a master’s degree in Wig and Makeup Design.

Nikiya Mathis
Expert stylist, Activist
BHMU Founding Member, Vetting Team Member
Nikiya Mathis is an expert stylist and wig maker as well as an award-winning actress.
After years of hearing the complaints of her peers and experiencing her own hair horror stories, Nikiya founded ActTRESSES Design & Consulting Agency, which specializes in wig design and styling for actors of color.
Her designs have been seen on dozens of TV and Broadway stars and in acclaimed shows on TV an in theater.
She also provides popular hair workshops in institutions including NYU Tisch Graduate Costume Design.
